List of Top i5 CPUs Which You Can Buy for Gaming, Rendering & Video Editing

Report Data Collected On: 3/Jun/2017

A Processor is an electronic chip which is mainly situated on the Motherboard of a Computer System. All the Calculation, Movement of Data, Comparison of Data and all the other types of process are the main responsibility of a Processor and that’s the reason why a processor is called as a brain of the Computer.

All the computers must have a single processor in it, in order to display anything on the Monitor Screen;

The speed of a processor is determined by its ability to perform a task in one second. It was measured in Megahertz (MHz), but now as you know the technology gets advanced and because of the higher number of MHz, nowadays it’s measuring in Gigahertz (GHz) because 1000MHz = 1GHz.

Even comparing two different processor, there are numbers of factors which can determine the actual performance of that CPU. Some of the main key factors are like Clock Speed, Turbo Clock Speed, Number Of Cores, Cache Memory, Numbers of PCI lanes and etc.

A lot of people get confused by these terms, and if you think you have some confusion about these terms too, then you feel free to read my this another article where I have already written a complete guide on >> How To Buy A Processor (CPU) For Desktop PC?“.

OK, that’s enough about the CPUs. Let’s start with the i5 now!!!!

A lot of people using i5 Processor because they are low priced, providing great performance and allow you to do more of your extra work with an ease.

And in this article, from now I only going to talk about the i5 Processor, why it’s great and different from the other processors, about some gaming results and a list of the best i5 Processors available in the market in this month.

So, let’s get started;

The i5 processors were released in September 2009. Mainly the reason why the i5 Processors become most popular is just because of its great performance per price ratio and anybody can easily afford it.

The i5 Processors are released in many different generations, mainly seven. In 1st Gen. there are 7 processors, in 2nd Gen. or Sandy Bridge there are 5 processor, in 3rd Gen. or Ivy Bridge there are 5 processor, in 4th Gen. or Haswell there are 5 processor, in 5th Gen. or Broadwell there are 3 processor, in 6th Gen. or Skylake there are 7 processors and in 7th Gen. or Kaby Lake there are 7 processor available. But right now, not all the 7th Generation i5 processors are available in the market.

A lot of people ask me why i5 is great when I suggest them to buy an i5 for a Mid-level build, and the reason is:

  • In my point of views, the i5 is a great processor for any kind of load like PC. It can do most of the thing which other processors of the same class aren’t capable enough to do it.
  • I5 is the great low-cost processor, if you are a normal PC user, then this processor is perfect for you. It can do all of your work at the ultra-high speed. It has 4 cores which can handle the ultra-load of any heavy software and I believe, it can satisfy you the most.
  • If you are a gamer, then this processor can run all the latest games with a superb advantage of running all latest games at 1080p on Ultra-Setting, I can’t say it can handle 4K gaming that well, but If your budget is low and gaming is your life, then you can totally rely on this processor.
  • If you are an entry level Video Editor, then you can also use this processor for your work too. This processor can do normal video editing and 3D rendering and can also able to do all the basic and normal editing but not the High-End Kinds of Stuff.
  • Or, if you still wanted something more, then you can prefer an i7.

Something Important About The List:

The Gaming Performance of all those best Processors of my list is tested with the Nvidia GTX 1060 Graphics Card. I think now you are thinking, why I used GTX 1060 where in my previous article of ‘Best i7 CPUs’ I was using GTX 1080 for the CPU Performance Benchmarking.

And the reason is, that the i5 processor bottleneck the high-end graphics cards, and I don’t think using any High-End Card with this processor is a good idea and that’s why I used GTX 1060, as it’s a Mid-End GPU which mainly doesn’t get the bottleneck with this processor.

The game I used for the benchmarking is the Ubisoft’s latest Watch Dogs 2. It’s an interesting game who having High-End Graphics Support, which I think that I can use to benchmark the gaming and the Graphics Performance of all of selected i5 CPUs.

So, Let’s See How Many Best i5 Processors Are Available In The Market, In This Month:

I have tested all the latest i5 Processor of 6th and 7th Generation on my own. After seeing the results, I came to a point that the 7th Generation processors are the best in this Intel Core i5 Series.

When I compared 6th & 7th Gen processor I saw the performance increment difference is about 15% in 7th Gen, i5 CPUs.

Since the 7th Gen Series has the best in class processors, I only add 7th Gen Processor in my list of top CPUs of this month.

In case, if you are looking to upgrade your computer’s processor to an i5, then I think you must have a look on your Motherboard’s specification to find out that it able to support the 7th Gen Intel i5 Processors or not.

If the motherboard supports then you can run these processors, and if don’t, then you can’t be able to run these unless you buy a new compatible motherboard for your new CPU.

Let’s see the list now;

About it: This Processor is the best of all the i5 Series CPUS released till now. If you are looking for a better performance CPU, then I’ll highly suggest this Processor to anyone who is looking to upgrade their old CPU. According to the 7th generation CPUs availability, this one having the top class performance, which is currently available right now in the market.

The special thing is, it has 4 Cores which can clock at the frequency of 3.80 GHz, but by using the turbo, the max frequency of a core can be reached to about 4.20 GHz. It has the highest Clock Speed than any Processor of my list. Just like the others this one also comes with the 6MB SmartCache, with the 64 GB of DDR3L and DDR4 Memory Support. The Integrating CPU’s Graphics “HD graphics 630” can be clock up to 1.15 GHz and just like the above one, this CPU also have 16 PCIe lanes.

The “K” in the Model Number (i5-7600K) indicated that the processor has unlocked multiplier. By mentioning unlocked processor, it simply means that you can overclock this processor from the BIOS by simply increasing the processor multiplier.

If the model number don’t have any “K” mentioned at the end, it means you can’t overclock it properly. Only this processor of my list has the unlock ability in it.

Let’s come to the gaming performance of this CPU, the result I got from it was really unbelievable. The Frame Rates were high up to 70 FPS with the CPU usage of only 80%. I also overclock this processor on my own, I have successfully overclocked this processor up to 4.8 GHz maximum, and get the additional 10% hike in the gaming performance too.

The overclocking was done easy and nicely and don’t have any problems reported while overclocking.

#In My Opinion: You can go for any processor in my list according to your need but this one is the finest Piece of the i5 Series CPU which you can buy right now.

I did my best and all these processors are just best in their respective class! And now it’s all upon you to choose which one of them for your own computer. Thank You!! 🙂
